- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) requires a study on the effectiveness of neuraminidase inhibitors among persons age 50 years or older who are hospitalized with influenza the effectiveness of neuraminidase inhibitors among persons age 50 years or older who are hospitalized with influenza. The contractor will be required to investigate the effects of neuraminidase inhibitor influenza antiviral drugs on hospitalized elderly patients aged 50 years and older. The studies will focus on the neuraminidase inhibitor (NI) class of antiviral medications: oseltamivir and zanamivir, although information will also be collected on use of adamantanes. This study will be an observational study in one or more medical facilities in the U.S. that prospectively identifies patients presenting in the emergency room (ER) and hospitalized with symptoms consistent with influenza infection, with laboratory confirmation of infection with influenza. There is a base period of performance of 24 months and three option periods of 12 months each. The total base and option will not exceed five years from date of award. CDC will consider all responsible sources responding to this RFP. All questions/concerns about the RFP shall be submitted via e-mail to BBiltz@cdc.gov.
