- Description
- The United States Government, represented by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), anticipates issuing a solicitation for proposals for design/build services to rehabilitate the Darunta Dam Hydroelectric Power Plant in Afghanistan. The power plant was constructed by Soviet Union (USSR) companies in the early 1960 and contains three vertical Kaplan (6 blade propeller) units with rated output of 3.85 MW each. The total electric power capacity is 11.5 MW. The plant is currently in very poor condition and requires major rehabilitation including possible replacement of all three turbines.
