- Description
- The Fleet Industrial Supply Center Norfolk, Contracting Department, Philadelphia Office, intends to solicit, on a sole source basis, Global Maritime and Transportation School (GMATS) of New York for Navigation, Seamanship, and Shiphandling (NSS) Instructor/Operator Services for Simulator and Classroom based NSS training at the Surface Warfare Officer's School Command (SWOS), Newport, RI. The Navy intends to solicit for a Firm Fixed price contract. The period of performance is anticipated to be from 01 May 2008 through 30 November 2008, with a separate, competitive follow-on procurement to be award by 01 December 2008. This procurement is a sole source acquisition with GMATS under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. GMATS is the only source capable of continuing the operation of the schoolhouse in the required timeframe while the competitive follow-on procurement is conducted. A break in the training schedule would cause serious harm to the mission of SWOS. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTATIONS.
