- This is a sources sought announcement for written information only. This is not a solicitation for proposals and no contract will be awarded from this announcement. No reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing information in response to this announcement or any follow-up information requests. No telephone calls will be accepted. In preparation for a future procurement, The Naval Facilities Expeditionary Logistics Center (NFELC) is seeking the procurement of 150 trailer mounted welding shops, constant current/constant voltage (CC/CV), with all components necessary for Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding; hereafter, known as the Welding Shop Trailer Mounted (WST). Towards this end, commercial providers of this commodity will be identified. The WST shall be a self-contained trailer mounted integrated unit equipped for safe performance of a variety of welding processes. The WST shall contain tools, machinery, and expendable supplies necessary to perform these processes. The WST shall be capable of continuous field deployment in a wide variety of environmental extremes and rough terrain. Rough terrain capability is a critical performance parameter. For flexibility, the WST set shall be configured on a tandem axle trailer. Respondents should provide the following information about providing a WST: Name and address of company, company point-of-contact with phone and fax number (email address if available), narrative description of their solution and/or proposed Welding Shop Trailer Mounted. In the information narrative, NFELC is particularly interested in the physical Characteristics, Environmental Conditions, Transportability, Design and Construction as well as Materials, Processes and Parts. There should also be sufficient detail to allow the government to determine the state of quality assurance and control of the manufactured items/processes. Responses to this announcement will serve as a first step for evaluating alternatives. This announcement is not a commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation or ultimately award a contract. The applicable NAICS codes are 333992 – Welding Equipment manufacturing and 423830 – Industrial machinery and Equipment Merchant Wholesalers, with a size limitation standard of 500 employees. Interested sources must submit any comments and information via email to frank.sanchez4@navy.mil no later than 10 April 2008. Responses received after this deadline may not be considered. Since this is a sources sought announcement, no evaluation letters will be issued to the participants.
