Description
The Royal Saudi Air Force Peace Shield Program (Command and Control System) is enhancing its existing tactical communication network and operational capabilities. RSAF plans to extend Peace Shield its existing tactical munitions radio system used for voice and data communications. Al-Kharj sector will be the network node for the planned radios which will be integrated into the existing tactical munitions radio network. The munitions radio upgrade will use Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) equipment and is comprised of three main deliverables: 1. Hand-held Radios : Seventy-Nine (79) intrinsically safe COTS tactical hand-held radios operating in the 440 MHz-490MHz frequency band. The radio sets are capable of group or individual calls, emergency calls, direct mode, status, data transmission, short alpha-numeric messages, conference calls, and roaming facility. The radio accessories include user-friendly keypad with contextual prompt, LCD display, leather case, belt clip, intrinsically safe battery, and hand-free set. 2. Secondary Switch : A new secondary COTS switch for routing, switching, call processing (voice and data transmissions) and terminal mobility management (dispatching, public telephone network, etc.). 3. Control Room Configuration : Install and integrate the secondary switch to the existing two Base Stations at Al-Karj. Then, connect the secondary switch to the main switch MATRACOM 9600 Digital Trunking Radio System (DTRS) previously provided by EADS. Program/configure the secondary switch to work with the DTRS based radio network. Standard commercial communication methods, procedures, and tools will be required for installing the secondary switch and configuring the control room. Mainentances and repair services will be according to best commercial practices. Mission system training is not required. Registration with the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, U.S. Department of State is required.
