Description
The Department of Homeland Security/ United States Coast Guard has identified a requirement for approximately 140 Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS) LED Marine Lanterns for use on buoys, fixed platforms and lighthouses. The Coast Guard requires that one family of lanterns be used for maintenance, logistics, and training purposes. This is not a development contract and only COTS items will be considered. Power for the lanterns will range from 11 to 18 volts DC, nominal input is 12VDC provided by solar power systems outfitted with lead acid batteries. Red, Green and White lanterns will be required. Lanterns must satisfy minimum intensity requirements at specified divergences, ranging from 327 candelas to 1603 candelas. Lanterns are required to perform in a marine environment which includes the following conditions: Operating Temperature range of -30 to +50 degrees C, humidity 0 to 100%, ice loading up to 22 kg per square meter, wind speeds up to 100 knots, continuous exposure to salt air and seawater spray, continuous exposure to ultraviolet light, exposure to shock and vibration consistent with mounting on buoys or single pile structures, lanterns shall not be susceptible to interference from radiating devices ( e.g. VHF radios and marine radar), lanterns shall incorporate electric surge protection from static discharges and lightning strikes. Lanterns must provide integral daylight controls (on/ off switches). Shipments will be made to Coast Guard Engineering Logistics Center, Baltimore, MD. Instruction and services manuals are also required to be provided with the lanterns. Complete specifications are available upon request. A Request for Quote (RFQ) will be posted in late April. Any questions should be directed to Frank Krempa, Contract Specialist, U.S. Coast Guard, (202) 475-3342, or by email to frank.krempa@uscg.mil.
