- Description
- The purpose of this sources sought announcement is to identify potential vendors that are capable of meeting a US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) need for a handheld microwave and ultrasonic detector. USSOCOM is looking for companies that have a commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) item or the capability to produce a detector that meets the following required minimum criteria: total system weight of less than 5 lbs; smaller than 10 x 5 x 2 inches; detect and locate microwave emitters in the x, k, and ka bands; detect and locate ultrasonic emitters; display with LED indicators the direction of the source of the ultrasonic and/or microwave emissions (up, down, right, left); internal, government off-the-shelf (GOTS) or COTS batteries capable of four (4) continuous hours of operation; operational and storage temperature range of minus 10 to 130 degrees F; audible, visual and silent (i.e., vibrate) alerts with the capability to independently turn off the alerts; low and critical battery warnings; resistant to sand, dust and moisture; operational reliability no less than 95 per cent following exposure to a 30 minute MIL-STD 810E Loose Cargo Vibration Test (or industry standard); daylight and night time readable display; and weather and water resistant packaging. Other desirable requirements: total system weight of less than 2 lbs; size smaller than 2 x 4 x.05 inches; internal, GOTS or COTS batteries capable of six (6) continuous hours of operation; and operational and storage temperature range of minus 20 to 150 degrees F. Interested vendors with proven microwave and ultrasonic detector experience are requested to submit documentation that provides detail on microwave and ultrasonic detection experience including product literature, test data and methodology used to support claims of the ability to meet the herein described criteria. Responses are due 15 May 08 and must include a product description with performance parameters, a statement regarding current availability, summary of prior testing, test reports, summary of logistic and maintenance requirements and an estimated cost for the item. The NAICS for this effort is 334515, SIC 3825, FSC 5999 and the small business size standard is 500 employees. This announcement is a request for information only and is not a request for proposal or announcement of a solicitation.
