- Description
- The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) leads the discovery, development, and timely transition of affordable, integrated technologies that keep our Air Force the best in the world. AFRL is organized into ten technology directorates. The Battlespace Environment Division (AFRL/RVB) at Hanscom AFB, MA is part of AFRL's Space Vehicles Directorate whose mission is to develop and transition high pay-off space technologies supporting the warfighter while leveraging commercial, civil and other capabilities to ensure America's advantage in partnership with industry, universities and other DoD agencies, as well as providing knowledgeable support to both the acquisition community and warfighters. The Battlespace Environment Division, in turn, conduct basic research, exploratory development, and advanced development programs to meet Air Force systems needs to specify, forecast, mitigate, and exploit environmental impacts on DoD (space, ISR) systems to enable next-generation and generation-after-next space systems. Also, responsibilities in atmospherics and other non-space areas.
