- Description
- Replacement of the HU-25, 5KVA AC Generator P/N 81634-2. The Coast Guard at the present time has twenty one HU-25 aircraft in service. The secondary AC power source for these aircraft is the 5 KVA generator, P/N 81634-2, manufactured by Electro Kinetics Corporation. The 5 KVA generator provides 115 volts (V) alternating current (AC) three phase 400 cycles (Hz) to the aircraft. The 5 KVA generator is driven by the aircraft’s Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) 2G-GTCP36-100(C). The Coast Guard has been experiencing supportability problems with the present generator. It is the intention to replace the current 5 KVA generator with a generator rated at 8KVA minimum. The Coast Guard is seeking industry comment from potential sources that can provide a replacement 8 KVA generator which will generate clean MIL-STD-704 Alternating Current (AC) electrical power on its fleet of HU-25 Aircraft. The current generator assembly is a brushless generator, self-cooled with an internal permanent magnet generator (PMG) and current transformer. The current 5 KVA generator is connected to the Auxiliary Power Unit’s (APU) mechanical drive by a flexible quill shaft and driven at 12,000 RPM. Shaft rotation is CW facing the shaft. The generator is used in conjunction with a Generator Control Unit (GCU) and a current transformer (CT) which comprises the 5 KVA auxiliary power system. The replacement generator shall fit the same envelope when installed on the APU. Commercial off the shelf is preferred, but not required. The purpose of this synopsis is to determine possible sources for 8 KVA AC Generator system replacements. Organizations that are Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certified having the required expertise, capabilities, and an acceptable quality system are invited to submit complete technical information packages including a planning estimate. Responses and comments do not constitute a proposal, but rather, will be considered as an open exchange of capabilities and ideas. The information contained therein shall pertain to this synopsis only. The Government does not intend to pay for the information received. Any interested organizations must submit their data in writing within 30 days of this announcement to Mr. J. J. Tirak at the address given above. The Coast Guard’s point of contacts are CWO Roger Cerny at (252) 335-6310 (email: roger.s.cerny@uscg.mil) Mr. J. J. Tirak at (252) 335-6877 (email: james.j.tirak@uscg.mil )or FAX (252) 334-5424.
