- Description
- VISN 3 is seeking proposals for a temperature monitoring system for its approximately 1000 refrigerators located in facilities throughout the metropolitan New York/New Jersey area. The system must meet the following requirements: The system may be wired or wireless and must be capable of real time monitoring temperatures in identified refrigerators twenty four hours a day, seven days per week. If a wired system is proposed the system must interface with the current VA network or the company must wire the system itself. If a wireless system is proposed, the company must provide its own wireless infrastructure, and this network must not interfere with the VA's existing wireless network. It must have a mechanism of alerting designated parties when the temperature in any refrigerator falls outside a predetermined range (i.e. 36-46 Fahrenheit and 2-8 Centigrade) and record the date and time the time in which it occurred. It must have the capability to generate reports when the temperature exceeded defined parameters. VISN 3 staff must have the ability to set the temperature range for each refrigerator individually. VISN 3 staff must have the ability to choose the mechanism of alert when temperature falls out of range for each individual refrigerator. The methods of alert should include several of the following options: local alarms, telephone cascade, e-mail notification, an alarm in a specific area of the site (i.e. Engineering, Pharmacy, etc.). Alert functions must be separated by facility and the system must have the ability to have multiple alert trees by department. Vendors should propose local monitoring (specific to the local facility). The system must meet all VA security requirements and all IT compatibility requirements. The warranty and service maintenance agreement must be included. Installation must be completed within ninety (90) days of agreed upon start date. Vendors are responsible for coordinating site visits prior to proposal submission with Pharmacy, Laboratory, and Food and Nutrition personnel.
