Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Acquisition Management Division, on behalf of the Plant Division, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis under authority of FAR 13.106(b)(1), with AMES, Inc. of Columbia, MD for three (3) Weil # 1622 pumps. Ames, Inc. is the sole Authorized Local Distributor for Weil pumps in Maryland and Washington D.C. These pumps are replacements for existing pumps in NIST Buildings 218 and 219. The existing pumps mount on guide brackets and floor elbows unique to this manufacturer, therefore pumps from a manufacturer other than Weil will not function. It is critical to the research to have 100% compatibility and interchangeability with the existing pumps already located at NIST. Without these we would not be allowed to operate in our 24/7 mode and we would incur significant downtime and additional expenses should these pumps malfunction. The Weil #1622 pumps shall have a 35 foot cord, double mechanical seals, and sliding bracket. Pump shall be 3 horsepower, capacity 100 GPM at 55 feet total dynamic head, 1750 RPM, 460/3/60 power. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations, however, responses received by April 25, 2008, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
