Description
The U.S. Army Joint Munitions and Lethality Life Cycle Management Command(JM&L-LCMC), Picatinny Arsenal, in support of the Product Manager, MortarSystem, is conducting a market survey to identify potential sources for thepurchase of cold weather accessory equipment for the U.S. Armys M32Lightweight Handheld Mortar Ballistic Computer (LHMBC) system. The suppliesbeing acquired are accessories that outfit the Rugged-Personal DigitalAssistant (R-PDA) component and comprise part of the Lightweight HandheldMortar Ballistic Computer (LHMBC) System. All of these accessories, whenassembled on the R-PDA or included with the R-PDA, make up the LHMBC Systemand allow that System to meet the performance requirements specified by theU.S. Army user. The LHMBC Systems low temperature requirement must allow theSystem to operate at minus 25 degrees Fahrenheit. The LHMBC must be capableof computing mortar firing solutions when the temperature falls to the -25Fthreshold. The power requirements for this cold weather device must be in theform of battery power and not weigh more than 2.5 ounces. The cold weatherdevice(s) must be capable of using the small LHMBC Type A RPDA or the largeLHMBC Type B+ RPDA (as described below). The cold weather device(s) must alsoallow the LHMBC system to use the SINCGARS radio cable and the 21 pinconnector on the bottom. The Systems GPS antenna can not be obstructed. Thesecold weather device(s) must meet, at a minimum, the LHMBC system overallperformance requirements, such as the referenced low operating temperature.The LHMBC shall operate in an ambient air temperature of -25F (-32C) for atleast 4 (four) hours. The accessories to be purchased are 15 each ColdWeather Cases for for small type A unit and 100 each Winter cases for largetype B unit. These cases must meet the U.S. Army delivery schedule of 90calendar days after contract award and must be capable of using either thetype A or B+ RPDA computer and meet the current system design and performancerequirements of the LHMBC. Testing and performance requirements for theenvironmental cold weather at -25F and approval of such will have had toalready been completed and documented by the contractor. Such documentationand prior approval will need to be submitted for evaluation through PM Mortarsand the Quality Assurance Agency at Picatinny Arsenal, ARDEC.
