Description
The US Army ARDEC is conducting a market survey to identify potential ServiceDisabled Veteran (SDV) sources to undertake a program to further develop and implement advanced production techniques to lower the cost of titanium manufacturing for armament applications. All interested firms shall submit their technical capabilities (1-10 pages) for the above to include the following at no cost to the Government. The technical capabilities shall describe how the interested firm can provide engineering, machine design, integration, and installation related to the following: (1) Definition of capabilities in machine tool design/fabrication. (2) Definition of solid model design capabilities. (3) Definition of large scale capital metal production facility design with emphasis on reactive metals. (4) Design, prove out and installation of high-rate production manufacturing systems, with emphasis on cold hearth melting practices. (5) Automation and control technology system integration. (6) Prototype hardware development in titanium and other specialty metals that demonstrates cost savings or dual military/commercial use. (7) Development of scrap processing system for titanium or other strategic metals with emphasis on non-traditional scrap input materials and off-grade input materials not currently returned to the titanium processing stream. (8) Development of scrap consolidation methods with emphasis on returning non-aerospace titanium (9) Development of non-aerospace product definitions and chemistries. Any drawings and/or initial experimentation results/test data may be included along with your technical capabilities. Prior past performance in the above mentioned areas on government facility projects is critical and should be so noted. This is a program to work collaboratively with US Army ARDEC and the domestic titanium industry. Interested firms must demonstrate their ability apply technologies that can dramatically lower the production cost of titanium for armament applications. These technical capabilities shall be submitted electronically thirty (30) days from the date of this notice to Mr. Thomas Howes (email address: thomas.howes1@us.army.mil).
