- The 10th Mission Support Group, Directorate of Contracting, United States Air Force Academy, Colorado, is hereby issuing a Notice of Intent to award a Delivery Order against an existing United States Air Force Academy Furniture ID/IQ contract FA7000-07-D-006 for Herman Miller Brand Name furniture to match existing systems furniture within the Base Hospital to meet the same design standard. The requirement is to supply furniture to 28 different rooms to include systems furniture, mobile pedestals, conference room furniture, seating, lighting, etc... The Government has determined the use of Herman Miller for this furniture requirement is required to meet the government's need. The required furniture is proprietary nature to Herman Miller. Herman Miller is the manufacturer of all existing furniture throughout the medical campus, and to ensure and maintain compatibility with existing and concurrent purchases, the hospital requires this brand of furniture. Manufacturers, other than Herman Miller cannot offer the level of product integration between clinical and administrative furniture lines. Market research also indicated other system furniture brands were not physically compatible with Herman Miller furniture. Typically systems furniture is not interchangeable between brands. Additionally, typically other brands cannot match the exact finishes used by Herman Miller. The determination to use Herman Miller was made by the United States Air Force Academy, 10 MDSS/CC. Interested parties much identify their interest and concerns to this requirement by 2:00 p.m. Mountain Standard Time, 18 April 2008. This procurement is being conducted under the authority of FAR 13.5 and FAR Parts 12 and 13. The authority cited and justification made is based on the determination the Government's minimum needs can best be satisfied by services available from one source. No solicitation will be made available and all information shall be furnished at no cost or obligation to the government. The following local clause is hereby incorporated 5352.201-8101 Ombudsman (Aug 2005) and Addendum if resolution cannot be made by the contracting officer.
