Description
The U. S. Coast Guard will hold an Industry Day to outline its preliminary long range plans to conduct Post Shakedown Availabilities (PSAs) for the first two new National Security Cutters delivered to the Coast Guard as part of its Deepwater recapitalization project. These two cutters are the CGC BERTHOLF (WMSL-750) and the CGC WAESCHE (WMSL-751) home ported at Coast Guard Island, Alameda, CA. The Coast Guard’s current intent is to award a PSA contract covering both cutters. PSA planning is not to the point where a government estimate has been developed. However, some very preliminary rough order of magnitude estimates indicate that the total contract award for both cutters may approximate $50,000,000. The planned contract type is Cost Plus Fixed Fee. Work scope for each vessel will include structural modifications requiring dry docking with an overall performance period estimated at 8-10 months. The estimated starting date for the PSA of CGC BERTHOLF is April 2010. PSA of CGC WAESCHE will follow the completion of CGC BERTHOLF; an estimated start date will be provided at this meeting. The Coast Guard will provide a brief background on the National Security Cutter program, the PSA preliminary work plan, an overview of the scope of for proposed structural modifications and associated interferences, as well as other planned work. Time for Industry feedback and open questions will also be provided. This Industry Day will be held on Tuesday May 13, 2008 from 1200 to 1630 PDT in the Gresham Conference Center on Coast Guard Island – Alameda, CA. Coast Guard Island is a controlled-access military facility. Requirements for access to the Island for visitors are: 1. A valid State drivers license or other government-issued ID card, 2. Current vehicle registration (if driving), and 3. Proof of automobile liability insurance (if driving). Delays at the access point are common, therefore you should plan to arrive at least 30 minutes early. Potential attendees are notified that Security Personnel on Coast Guard Island can, and do, conduct searches of vehicles and individuals for contraband or prohibited items (illegal drugs, weapons, alcohol and the like) and conduct Immigration Status and Criminal Warrant Checks. Persons in violation of access restrictions are subject to exclusion from the facility and/or detention or arrest. Individuals wishing to attend this Industry Day must submit their name, company affiliation, position, company address, telephone number, fax, and email address to the Primary Point of Contact listed in this Notice no later than 1200 PDT Wednesday, May 7, 2008. Please e-mail this information to Michael.t.leonard@uscg.mil. Companies that plan on sending more than one representative can consolidate the required information into a single submission. The Coast Guard will provide a questionnaire regarding technical and contractual issues that will need to be addressed by potential offerors. If possible we would like to have your responses returned at Industry Day, and in any event, no later than 14 calendar days after its conclusion. Please provide the name, title, e-mail address, and fax number of the individual in your company to receive this questionnaire. Responses to the questionnaire shall be returned to Michael.t.leonard@uscg.mil.
