Description
The National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) seeks information on commercial vendors that are capable of providing a high resolution and high performance electron imaging detector (camera) compatible with an electron energy loss spectrometer/image filter attached to a 300 kV transmission electron microscope. The results of this market research will be used to identify vendors that are capable of meeting the required specifications and delivery date. Requests for price quotations and delivery schedules will be generated base on the information obtained. NIST has a need for an electron imaging detector that would meet the following requirements: 1.11 megapixel CCD sensor (4008 pixels by 2672 pixels) with a high-resolution phosphor scintillator capable of recording electron images and diffraction patterns. The CCD must have a regulated Peltier cooler to keep the dark current low and stable and anti-blooming technology; the CCD must have a minimum of 14-bit data digitization and be capable of frame rates in excess of 14 fps; the sensor must be controlled automatically via a Windows-based software platform capable of saving data in an open format such as TIFF as well as formats compatible with Gatan Microscopy Suite products (DM3-formats). 2.The CCD camera must mount on the bottom flange of a JEOL 3010 UHR-TEM and provide X-ray shielding to allow safe operation at 300 kV, as well as be pneumatically retractable so as to not interfere with the operation of a pre-existing electron energy loss spectrometer (Gatan Image Filter) instrumentation. 3.The vendor would be expected to modify the pre-existing Gatan Image Filter so that the focus cross-over of the GIF magnetic sector prism would accommodate the added retractable CCD camera (requirement 1) while guaranteeing that the GIF continues to perform to the original manufacturer’s (both hardware and software) specifications. NIST is seeking responses from all responsible sources, including large, foreign, and small businesses. Small businesses are defined under the associated NAICS code for this effort, 333314, as those domestic sources having 500 employees or less. Please include your company’s size classification in any response to this notice. Companies that manufacture electron image detectors are requested to email a detailed report describing their abilities to todd.hill@nist.gov no later than the response date for this sources sought notice. The report should include achievable specifications and any other information relevant to your product or capabilities. Also, the following information is requested to be provided as part of the response to this sources sought notice: 1. Name of the company that manufactures the electron image detectors for which specifications are provided. 2. Name of company(ies) that are authorized to sell the electron image detectors, their addresses, and a point of contact for the company (name, phone number, fax number and email address). 3. Indication of number of days, after receipt of order that is typical for delivery of such systems. 4. Indication of whether each instrument for which specifications are sent to todd.hill@nist.gov are currently on one or more GSA Federal Supply Schedule contracts and, if so, the GSA FSS contract number(s). 5. Any other relevant information that is not listed above which the Government should consider in developing its minimum specifications and finalizing its market research.
