Description
Announcing the Info Challenges 2008 Conference and Exposition. The Air Force Research Laboratory Information Directorate’s Information Institute (II) of Rome, NY is participating in the Information Challenges 2008 Conference and Exposition sponsored by the Erie Canal Chapter (NY) of AFCEA, with support from the Griffiss Institute and Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC) of Utica, NY. This Conference and Exposition will explore challenges and research opportunities in information systems and technology for Air Force and DOD applications. The event will be held in an academic setting at Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, NY on 3 - 4 June 2008. The objective of the Conference and Exposition is to explore challenges and research opportunities in information systems and technology for Air Force and DOD applications. The Conference will also provide a forum for industry and academia to discuss with government representatives the future challenges and research opportunities in information technology and to also participate in a poster and demonstration session. Participants will have the opportunity to engage government leaders, researchers and scientists on approaches to solving the obstacles to advances in information technology, review technology demonstrations, and discuss various experiments and practices. The Exposition will be held during most of the conference so that attendees have an opportunity to present their perspectives on advancing information systems through the use of standard Exhibits, Poster Boards and/or PowerPoint/PC Demo presentations. On Tuesday evening, 3 June, a Social Hour with Heavy Hors d'oeuvres will be held to facilitate this exchange. This year's Conference and Exposition will feature keynote addresses from Brig. Gen. Mark O. Schissler, the Director for Cyber Operations, Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Plans and Requirements, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C., and Dr. Donald Hanson, Director of the Air Force Research Laboratory Information Directorate as well as other distinguished Air Force leaders. The workshop will also provide overviews and technology briefs from the AFRL staff as well as collaborative workshops aimed at discussing solutions to different issues in information technology. Discussions will center on challenges in Cyber operations, Information Exploitation, Information Fusion, Advanced Computing Architecture, Information Management, Command and Control, and Connectivity. The conference this year will include “office hours” with lead engineers in the previously mentioned areas where you can sign up for one on one meetings. Posters and demonstrations highlighting some of AFRL and Information Institute members and small business current technology developments ready for tech transfer or transition will be available. Mini-workshops will be conducted on day two on subjects such as Refining Strategic Cyber Defense Concepts and Research, Information Management in a Service Oriented Architecture Environment, Airborne Networking, Wargaming, Imagery and Video Exploitation as well as an exposition in Emerging Technologies in Information Science. Attendees must be US Citizens or Permanent Resident Aliens. Proof of status is required for registration. Clearances are not required and all discussions will be unclassified. Note: this is NOT a "bidder's conference" and this announcement is not a contract, request for proposal, a promise to contract, or a commitment of any kind. The Government will NOT assume liability for costs incurred by an offeror for presentations, marketing efforts or data offered for examination; therefore the cost of preparing information in response to this notice is not considered an allowable direct charge to the Government.
