Description
THIS IS A SOLE SOURCE SYNOPSIS! The 45th Contracting Squadron has a sole source requirement for an Ortec HPGe gamma detector completely self-contained cooler and detector for USAF AGFU system, including “hardened” cryostat on a RICOR 535 cooler. Installation uses an existing GEM-90-S detector (customer provided) mounted in a special cryostat which allows cool down from any temperature without the need for thermal cycling. Dector system retains all connections to the AGFU acquisition system. Total length of detector capsule and cooler not to exceed 28”. Resolution to be 3 keV or better at 1408 keV. The requested delivery to Patrick AFB, Florida is approximately thirty (30) days after receipt of an award. This is a Sole Source with Advanced Measurement Technology, Inc. IAW FAR 6.302-1. Advanced Measurement Technology, Inc. is the only source capable of fulfilling the government’s requirement at this time. A comprehensive investigation of portable Stirling Cycle-cooled High Purity Germanium (HPGe) Gamma Detectors is being conducted as part of an effort to improve the reliability of the field samplers. Three manufacturers (PHDs Co., Canberra and Ortec) offer Stirling cycle cooled gamma detectors. They have already purchased a system manufactured by Canberra and PHDs; therefore require the Ortec system to complete the inventory of test articles. The comparison testing that will be performed in conjunction with this acquisition is the only means to ultimately determine which manufacturer system will best fulfill the mission requirements. No solicitation documents exists at this time. The non-manufacturer rule applies to this requirement as the manufacturer for the referenced NAICS code is a large business. This item/service utilizes Standard Industrial Code (SIC) 3829 with a business size of 500 employees and North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code of 334519. Interested firms may identify their capability to respond to this requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes; however, the government will consider any responses from capable sources received within 10 days after date of publication of this synopsis. 45 CONS/LGCB has determined that Advanced Measurement Technology, Inc. is the only source capable of providing this requirement. Phone calls will not be accepted. Point of contact is Bonnie Pruett, Contract Specialist, 45 CONS/LGCBB, 1201 Edward H. White II, Street MS7200, Patrick AFB, FL 32925, bonnie.pruett@patrick.af.mil.
