Description
The Naval Surface Warfare Center-Carderock Division (NSWCCD) is hereby conducting a market survey of all potential sources of vibration reduction systems. The intended use for the system is to reduce the vibration caused by imbalance of rotating machinery, such as axial flow air propellers and centrifugal flow lift fans, on Naval Air Cushion Vehicles (ACVs). The information provided will assist NSWCCD in understanding the technologies available to perform this function. The Government is looking for current and available technology in the open market, not new technology in a developmental stage. This market survey in no way binds the Government to offer contracts to responding companies. Description This section provides a set of performance characteristics that meet the needs of a potential demonstration system, although consideration will be given to minor deviations from these requirements. The rotating machinery which is subject to imbalance has the following operational characteristics:1.Maximum rotational speeds between 1000 and 2200 RPM.2.Absorbed power between 2 and 7 MW (2,600-9,300 SHP).3.Drive shaft outer diameter between 12 and 45 cm (4.7-17.7 inches).4.Permissible vibration limits (approximate):less than 0.65 cm/s for propellersless than 0.90 cm/s for lift fans 5.Exposure to the weather and saltwater and sand spray. Responses Responses to this market survey should include supporting materials that demonstrate your companys competence, experience, and overall understanding of the requirements that NSWCCD has identified. The following information is requested (please indicate if the information is an estimate or actual) 1.Description of the technology2.Development history and status3.Applications and history of fielded systems 4.Installation and integration requirements5.ROM cost and development schedule for a prototype system6.ROM cost and lead time for production units7.US Military applications including points of contact8.Information regarding Maximum Imbalance Moment that can be addressed, the system response time, and the maximum rotation rate. NSWCCD requests your responses by 10:00 am (EST), on 2 May 2008. Information should be e-mailed to Mr. Jeffrey Merlino at jeffrey.merlino@navy.mil or mailed to Naval Surface Warfare Center, Attn: Jeffrey Merlino, 1000 Kitty Hawk Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19112 and labeled with the solicitation number and title. Questions can be submitted electronically to jeffrey.merlino@navy.mil. Information provided will be treated as Business Sensitive and will not be shared outside of Government activities and agencies without the permission of the provider. All information shall be provided free of charge to the Government. NSWCCD may request further information regarding the capabilities of respondents to meet the requirements and may request a presentation and/or a site visit as deemed necessary. At no cost to the government, the government may request further clarification of a contractors submission.
