Description
The FAA is seeking paving firms to resurface the South parking lot of the Air Route Traffic Control Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. The work consists of but is not limited to: A. Furnish all material, equipment, labor, and supervision to accomplish the work described in this specification. The work includes:1. Mill (remove) approximately 10,000 square yards (SY) of the existing asphaltic pavement to a depth of 1.5-inches. Once off site, material will become the property of the contractor.2. Where directed on drawings, remove remaining asphalt and subbase to a depth of 6-inches below milled grade. Replace area with 6-inches of compacted HMA prior to surface layers.3. Where directed on drawings (approximately 340 S.F.), excavate grass, topsoil, and some landscape stone to a depth of 6-inches after milling. Compact subgrade and construct 6-in layer of HMA. Hand digging and compaction required near fence.4. Seal 2000 lineal feet (L.F.) of joints, cracks, edges, and corners of the pavement area. Fill cracks between -inch and -inch wide, prior to asphalt placement.5. Construct 1 -inch HMA pavement structure consisting of a wedge/leveling layer and a surface layer.6. Provide temporary pavement marking during cure time.7. After allowing new asphalt surface to cure for a minimum of 30 days, apply one coat of penetrating primer and two coats of sand-slurry sealer.8. After seal coat cures, paint parking stalls, arrows, curbs, and other pavement markings as shown on project drawings. Curb paint is not all shown in drawing, however, all curbs are within facility perimeter and the total length will be 3700 L.F.9. Replace all handicap signs throughout the north and south parking lots. Remove and dispose of existing, furnish and install new posts and signs. Signs must be aluminum, with reflective (AASHTO M268) sheeting and stainless steel hardware. Posts must be powder-coated steel or equivalent. B. Alternate Items requiring a separate bid price includes: 1. Replace 250 L.F. of concrete curb and gutter throughout the facility. Exact locations will be field determined by resident engineer, but no single length will be less than 10 L.F. Sawcut adjacent asphalt and curb and gutter, remove and dispose of existing curb and gutter, and other waste. Furnish and install forms, fill (if needed), concrete, topsoil, traffic control, and any incidental materials needed to complete the work. Patch between new medians and asphalt with compacted HMA during other paving operations. Offer range is between $100,000 and $250,000 with a performance time of approximately 30 calendar days. Construction start is anticipated for summer 2008. Interested firms should submit a letter of interest to the above named Contracting Officer along with a listing of similar comparable projects performed over the last 5 year period. "This Notice is for informational purposes for Minority, Women-Owned and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The Department of Transportation (DOT), Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization, has a program to assist small businesses, small businesses owned and controlled by a socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, and women-owned concerns to acquire short-term working capital assistance for transportation-related contracts. Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $750,000.
