Description
Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering (RDEC) Acquisition Center, Natick Contracting Division (NCD). Kansas Street, Natick, MA on behalf of the United States Army Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering Center, Natick, MA intends to negotiate and award a Contract on a sole source basis with Interstate Container 240 Industrial Ave E. Lowell, MA 01852-5114 for the purpose of designing fiberboard structures, fiberboard trials and characterization of different fiberboard structures for the SERDP project. The company has unique qualifications and expertise in the fiberboard arena. The company is local to Natick (Lowell, MA) and is already working with Natick Soldier Center. Interstate Resources is a source for corrugated products and Linerboard products such as Recycled Medium and Virgin Linerboard. This company has some unique capabilities. These include: a new, state of the art Soft Nip Calender, to create a surface that is more accepting to barrier coatings, a new Extended Nip Wet Press system to enhance productivity and Quality such as Scott Bond strength, a new pulp washing system to remove debris and a new drive system. Any firm that believes it can meet this requirement may give written notification to the Contracting Officer within 5 days from the date of publication of this announcement. Supporting evidence must be in sufficient detail to demonstrate the ability to comply with the requirements, yet must be limited to 2 pages. Responses received will be evaluated; however, a determination by the Government to compete the proposed procurement based on the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. If no responses are received, NCD will proceed with awarding a firm fixed price purchase order to University of Florida. No solicitation document is available.
