Description
The United States Coast Guard, Civil Engineering Unit Juneau has a requirement for the following: 6 Finnish Maritime Administration (FMA) Ice spar buoys - Type SVV 500-6, Celltech Primary Battery type AL 25-15, Sabik Ice Buoy Lantern Type MPV-LED, FOB Destination Homer Alaska. It is anticipated that a non-competitive sole source purchase order under FAR Part 13.5 Test Program for Certain Commercial Items, will be issued for these items to: Light Wave Options Ltd. Light Wave Options Ltd. is the only known Authorized Distributor for Sabik of Finland and can furnish the required parts and ensure the proper fit, form and function of all its components. The success of the previous purchases of these buoys for test and evaluation purposes has proved to be instrumental in determining the suitability of a long term deployment of this buoy design. The reasons necessitating procurement of this particular buoy is that the Lighted buoys installed in areas that are prone to refreezing are being replaced with buoys that can survive the severe conditions that the ice places on them. Buoys are constructed of high density polyethylene with internal radar reflectors that is robust enough to withstand the extreme pressures under the ice and provide good visual and radar signatures. The anticipated award date is May 20, 2008. This notice is neither a request for proposal nor a solicitation of offers. A determination not to compete this proposed procurement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
