Description
The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) has a need for one 2-color web offset press. As part of the market research, the BEP is posting this request for information. The BEP expects to issue a formal Request for Proposal late Summer 2008 for a purchase by late Fall, 2008. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) is requesting information from all potential sources on a commercially available 2-color offset web press for the production of strap and bundle bands. These bands will be used in roll form to secure the straps and bundles of currency produced on the SCOPE press lines. When sheeted, these strap and bundle bands will be used on the COPE production lines. At present, the BEP is investigating the following features:Two-color printing capability20.5 roll width capability. We expect to run both 18.75 and 19.5 wide websRoll to Turret rewind capabilities, either In-Line or optional Roll-Up AssemblySlitter unit for multiple rewind streams, 1.5 3.0, to Turret-RewinderHigh Speed sheeter with stackerSingle Roll StandChill RollersUV Drying SystemWeb Guide SystemMotorized Registration SystemPlate Cocking abilityPlate pin register system including a plate bender, if necessaryInk AgitatorsRefrigerated Water SystemContinuous dampening systemWeb Break DetectionWeb Inspection CapabilitiesDispersion Adhesive Application SystemControl ConsoleStatic Elimination systemFlood coat application and drying of heat reactivated adhesive The BEP requests all vendors submit three complete sets of brochures, literature specifications, drawings and/or other information available on their commercial equipment. Along with the technical information on the equipment, the BEP also requests:AvailabilityTypical delivery time frameTypical cost for such a systemOptional subsystems and componentsOptional capabilitiesAverage production ratesSize, weight and utility requirements of equipmentService and Warranties available The BEP is requesting the above data for informational purposes only. All costs, delivery, time frame, etc. is non-binding on the vendor and is requested to allow the BEP to adequately forecast budgets and schedules.This is not a request for proposal. The BEP will not fund to anyone the cost for the generation of this response.
