Description
The above referenced request for quotation is hereby amended to clarify the technical specifications. The following responses are provided to technical clarifications submitted: QUESTION: Specification 2 specifies a single frequency requirement. ANSWER: The NIST Center for Nanoscale Science and Technology (CNST) does require single longitudinal mode operation. The narrow linewidth is needed for future holographic work NIST CNST intends to do. A narrow linewidth means a long coherence length which allows for these future experiments. QUESTION: Specification 3 specifies 18 Watts. ANSWER: The NIST Center for Nanoscale Science and Technology (CNST) has a demanding experiment that requires as much laser power as possible. That extra 20% in pump power corresponds to a roughly 20% or more increase in the power output of the ring laser being pumped. The output of the ring laser will then go into several doubling cavities for frequency conversion. The frequency conversion process is nonlinear on the input power. Therefore, to have higher input power can have a very dramatic increase on the final laser power output. To successfully perform our experiments, NIST CNST needs as much power as possible and hence specified 18W for the power output.
