- Description
- NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) requires large quantities of high-grade liquidmethane to support cryogenic fluid testing, beginning in calendar year 2009. Anticipatedneeds are 3,000 gallons liquid methane per delivery, once a week for five contiguousweeks (test period), two or three test periods per year, for three to five years (90,000to 150,000 total gallons). Each five-week test period requires liquid methane to becontinuously available for 5 consecutive days, leaving balance of week for methanereplenishment. Methane grade shall be as per MIL-PRF-32207, Grade B or Grade C. NASA GRCis seeking information from vendors as to liquid methane delivery concepts meeting theserequirements. Helpful information includes: identification of vendors source for andprior experience with delivery of high grade methane, bulk storage (if required) atvendors facility, delivery/ drop-off concept for use on location at NASA GRCs SmallMulti-Purpose Research Facility, and retrieval/ replenishment. Rough order of magnitudecosts (per gallon/ per delivery) as well as anticipated terms of agreement are herebysolicited. Concepts that reduce NASA GRCs investment in storage infrastructure(stationary tanks, roadable dewars) are encouraged, but not mandatory.
