Description
THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION/SOURCES SOUGHT ANNOUNCEMENT ONLY. AS OF THE DATE OF THIS ANNOUNCEMENT THERE IS NO SOLICITATION PACKAGE AVAILABLE. This Request for Information/Sources Sought (RFI) is issued solely for information and planning purposes; it does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP) or a promise to issue an RFP in the future. This request for information does not commit the Government to contract for any supply or service whatsoever. The Government WILL NOT PAY for any information received in response to this request for information nor will the Government compensate the respondent for any cost incurred in developing the information for the Government. Any request for copies of solicitations will not be addressed since this is a request for information, not a request for proposal. It is requested that information in response to this RFI be submitted NO LATER THAN May 21, 2008 to Mr. Michael R. Sommeling, Independence National Park, 143 S. 3rd Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106 or by email at michael_sommeling@nps.gov. Not responding to this RFI does not preclude participation in any future RFP. Any comments provided may or may not be included in a formal solicitation. The Government will not release any information marked with a proprietary legend received in response to this RFI to any firms, agencies or individuals outside the Government without written permission in accordance with the legend. Respondents may provide information on any currently available product that meets the National Park Service's requirements. Independence National Park is requesting information pertaining to the services and/or materials required to pack and move approximately 4000 museum specimens. The size and capacity of these objects vary from a carpet tack to the entire second floor of an historic log cabin. Many objects are extremely fragile. NOTE: Some wooden objects have peeling lead-based paint that must be protected during transport. These objects will be packed and moved by professional movers with fine arts handling experience under the direction of park cultural resource management (Museum Branch) personnel and in accordance with a government statement of work (SOW). Once properly packed and/or prepared, these objects will be moved from the First Bank of the United States (1st Bank), 120 S. 3rd Street, Philadelphia, PA to 311-317 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA. Objects moved to 311-317 Walnut Street will be delivered to the rooms, unwrapped and placed on shelves as specified by government personnel. In addition, this effort will also entail moving ten oversized museum objects and their containers (crates, intact door frames) from the 1st Bank to the first floor of the Living History Center, 115 S. 3rd Street, Philadelphia, PA. The contractor will be required to provide all packing materials including cardboard boxes, cardboard moving bins, and unprinted newsprint for wrapping (NO BUBBLEWRAP WILL BE USED UNLESS IT IS SANDWICHED BETWEEN PLAIN BROWN WRAPPING PAPER). Interested parties responding to this RFI are requested to provide commercial pamphlets, operating manuals, or any other documentation that will assist Independence National Park personnel in recognizing possible sources. Any comments and/or questions regarding the technical aspects of this RFI ought to be directed to Ms. Karie Diethorn, Chief Curator, Independence National Historical Park, by phone at 215-597-9373, or by email at Karie_Diethorn@nps.gov.
