Description

The James H Quillen VA Medical Center in Mountain Home Tennessee requires the immediate services of a community based primary care provider and mental health services to care for veterans residing in and around Wise County Virginia. These services are required to be in place not later than 30 May 2008. The VHA intends to award a sole source contract to Wellmont Healthcare Systems (formerly Mountain View Regional Medical Center). Wellmont Healthcare Systems is the current community based outpatient clinic provider covering the geographical rural areas of Norton/ Wise, Virginia for the James H. Quillen VAMC. Effective May 31, 2008 the current contract expires in its final period of performance. The opening of a VA staffed outpatient clinic under a lease agreement scheduled to coincide with the current contract expiration date is currently behind schedule. The immediate need of the patients does not permit adequate time to pursue full and open competition. Further, Wellmont Healthcare Systems already has established patient records; the appropriate state license; VHA background checks; and credentialed physicians and personnel familiar with the utilization of the VA Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS).
