Description
The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Panama City Division (NSWC PCD), Panama City, FL is requesting information on commercially available products that may be potentially useful in a Government led preliminary Auxiliary systems design effort for the Ship to Shore Connector (SSC). The SSC is the designated replacement for the Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) which is a marine hovercraft. Description This section provides a set of performance characteristics that meet the needs of a potential demonstration system, although consideration will be given to minor deviations from these requirements. NSWC PCD is interested in light weight and highly reliable components, capable of surviving a harsh marine environment. Information on the products and designs for the following systems with corresponding characteristics is desired: 1. Light weight electric/hydraulic linear and rotary actuator systems in the 0.3 to 5.5 KW range (0.5 to 7.5 HP). 2. Gear driven and motor driven hydraulic pumps capable of 7.5 to 75 liters per minute (2 to 20 GPM) with discharge pressures 70 to 200 Bar (1000 to 3000 psi). 3. Electric or hydraulic high capacity fans with flow rates in the 20 to 400 cubic meters per minute range (700 to 14,000 cubic feet per minute). 4. High performance light weight heat exchangers in the range of 25 to 125 KW (85000 to 425,000 BTU/Hour). 5. Interfaces between composite materials and aluminum structures may be required for interfacing components to the craft actuators, structure, or control surfaces. Companies that have a demonstrated procedure to make structural connections between large composite structures and welded aluminum structures are encouraged to provide information on the processes and procedures that are used. 6. Above systems capable of reliably operating in humidity ranging from 0 to 100 %. 7. Above systems capable of reliably operating in temperatures ranging from -35 to 50 C (-30 to 120 F). 8. Above systems capable of reliably operating when exposed to high vibration levels. Responses to this RFI should include supporting materials that allows an effective evaluation of your companys competence, experience, and overall understanding of the requirements that NSWC PCD has identified. The following information is requested (please indicate if the information is an estimate or actual): 1. Description of the technology 2. Development history and status 3. Applications and history of fielded systems 4. Installation and integration requirements 5. ROM cost and development schedule for a prototype system 6. ROM cost and lead time for production units 7. US Military applications including points of contact 8. Information regarding system and component reliability. 9. Capability to complete a test installation of candidate equipment on a US Navy Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) stationed at NSWC Panama City, FL. NSWC PCD requests your responses by 10:00 am (EST), on 23 May 2008. Submissions will be accepted after this date, but feedback may not be as timely or contribute to NSWC PCDs strategic planning. Responses should be e-mailed to Contract Specialist, William Martini, at william.martini@navy.mil or mailed to Code XPS2, Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City (NSWC PC), 110 Vernon Ave, Panama City FL 32407 Attn: William Martini and labeled with the solicitation number and title. The technical point of contact is Stephen Solana, (850) 235-5041, stephen.solana@navy.mil. Information provided will be treated as Business Sensitive and will not be shared outside of Government activities and agencies without the permission of the provider. All information shall be provided free of charge to the Government. NSWC PC may request further information regarding the capabilities of respondents to meet the requirements and may request a presentation and/or a site visit as deemed necessary.
