- Description
- This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation and a quote is being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This is a full and open competition. The platinum dishes will hold radioactive specimens. The platinum dishes will utilize the Fusion Dissolution method. This method requires the use of a high purity (99.95% or better purity) reinforced bottom 75 mL ODS or ZGS standard form platinum dish with reinforced semi-round bottom. The dish shall be made out of ODS or ZGS platinum for flexibility and durability under the extreme temperature (1000ºC) conditions this fusion method requires. If these requirements are not met there is the risk of the dish failing and causing the loss of the radioactive melt contaminating laboratory facilities and personnel. The platinum wire is for radionuclide electro-deposition. This method requires the use of a high purity (99.95% or better purity) 0.051 inch diameter wire. Five feet of this platinum wire is required to supply the electrodes for the twelve (12) electrode deposition units. The need for 99.95% or better purity is due to the process of electro-deposition will dissolve the wire if less than this purity causing the need for replacement and reanalysis of the samples due to heavy metal plating with the radionuclide being plated. No substitute items are allowed without prior approval and testing. Testing other equipment would not be cost effective to the government. The solicitation document and incorporate provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 2005-25 (22 Apr 2008) & Class Deviation 2005-o0001 and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement Change Notice 20080423 Edition.
