- Description
- The Corps of Engineers has need for a contract for Fabrication and Delivery of Miter Gates for Pike Island Locks and Dam located near Wheeling, West Virginia. There are two sets of miter gates with each set consisting of two miter gate leaves (right hand and left hand). One set will be the downstream gates and one set will be the upstream gates. The gates will be constructed using various sizes of steel shapes and steel plate. The majority of the steel items will conform to ASTM A-572 grade 50 and ASTM A709/A709M Grade 50F, Zone 2. In addition, there are several stainless steel items including contact blocks and seal plates. Connections will be accomplished by a combination of welding and bolting. All welded joints are to be tested by applicable non destructive testing (ultrasonic, magnetic particle, and visual). Each lower gate leaf roughly measures: 61-6 wide, 44-4 high, and 5-1 deep and weighs approximately 165 tons. Each upper gate leaf roughly measures 61-6 wide, 36-4 high, and 5-1 deep and weighs approximately 145 tons. All gate leafs are to be delivered in one piece and vertical, field assembly will not be accepted. Components of the gates include the framing, skin plate, diaphragms, diagonal stressing bars and gussets, fenders, magnesium anodes, rubber seals, pintle castings, miscellaneous machined parts, walkway framing, grating, handrails, and associated accessories. The contractor will be responsible to develop and submit detailed shop drawings for review and approval. The contractor is to deliver all gate leaves at the same time. Delivery will be to a location within 100 miles of the Point at Pittsburgh via barge with the gate leaves in a vertical position. The gates will be off loaded by the Government using Government supplied cranes. The period of performance will be 760 calendar days. This procurement is small business set aside. Contractors must be registered in the Central Contractor's Registration (CCR) Database before receiving a contract award. For registration information, contact the CCR center at 1-888-227-2423.
