This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; offers are being requested and a written solicitation shall not be issued. This solicitation number is: 8011265505-00033, is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ), and incorporates provisions and clauses that are in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2005-24. This solicitation shall be solicited on a unrestricted basis. The North American Industry Classification Code is 333315. The U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, Food Safety Laboratory of the United States Department of Agriculture in Beltsville, Md. requires an upgrade to an existing Nikon E400 upright microscope to enable fluorescence microscopic detection of bacterial pathogens in plant tissues. The minimum requirements for this system are as follows: D-FL Universal Epi-FL Illuminator compatible with Nikon E400 with 6-position FL cube turret, open/close light shutter, aperture/field diaphragms, and 3 individual ND sliders; C-HGF 1B HG Adapter for fiber light source designed for optimum homogeneous illumination for i-Series microscopes; Intensillight Mercury-fiber illuminator manual light source with liquid light guide, built-in open/close shutter and 6 ND (neutral density) positions (with relative constant output over 2000 hour lifetime of bulb while never requiring alignment); Endow GFP HYQ Filter Cube with 470/40 excitation, 495DM, 525/50 emission; Nikon CFi Plan Fluor 100x/1.30NA objective with 1.3mm WD; 2 bottles of 50CC Immersion Oil; 2 packages of lens tissue; Photometrics HQ2 monochrome camera, 1392x1040 imaging array with 6.45 um pixels, peak QE 62 percent at 550nm, 14-bit at 20MHz, Turbo 1394 interface, peak QE 62 percent at 550 nm, 14-bit at 20 MHz, -30 degrees C cooling regulated, 16K/30K full well capacity (single pixel/ binned) with 4.5 and 5.5 e- read noise (10 and 20 MHz) Turbo 1394 interface, compatible with NIS-Elements; NIS-Elements Basic Research acquisition and analysis software package with unlimited, technical support from local imaging specialist; NIS-Elements 4D Module for acquisition for up to 4 dimensions including X, Y, Z, Time, Wavelength, multi-point.
