Description

The Social Security Administration (SSA) has a requirement for a contractor to provide new mail metering equipment and/or upgraded mail metering equipment for SSA's approximately 1600 outgoing mail sites located nationwide. The contract will also provide for the rental of federal postage meters and maintenance for equipment purchased under the contract. SSA defines "nationwide" as the continental United States, U.S. Virgin Islands, Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico. If, during the life of this contract, the United States Postal Service (USPS) requires SSA to switch to commercial postage meters, the contract will require the contractor to replace federal postage meters with commercial ones for equipment purchased and maintained under the contract. The contract will be for a period of 12 months, beginning July 1, 2008, or date of award, whichever is later, with four one-year options. SSA seeks quotations only from contractors capable of providing the equipment and related services on a nationwide basis. This acquisition is being conducted under Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 12 regarding the acquisition of commercial items and FAR 13.5 Test Program for Certain Commercial Items. Request For Quotations, number SSA-RFQ-08-1431, is scheduled for release on or about May 27, 2008, with quotations due 20 calendar days thereafter. The solicitation will only be available by downloading from the Federal Procurement website FedBizOpps at www.fedbizopps.gov. Requests for hard copies of this RFQ will not acknowledged, and the RFQ will not be mailed.
