- Description
- The Durham Health Services Research and Development (HSR&D) Center of Excellence (CoE) in Primary Care located with in the Durham VA Medical Center (VAMC) in Durham North Carolina intends to negotiate a sole source commercial item procurement with the Duke Institute for Genome Sciences and Policy (IGSP). Procurement is for the development of a Type 2 Diabetes risk assessment and counseling module, which includes genomic DNA testing. The HSR&D CoE has the need for a vendor qualified in patient-centered clinical risk assessment, counseling and genetic risk assessment for Type 2 Diabetes. Genetic risk assessment must include genomic DNA extraction, genotyping, and results reporting and interpretation for markers in the following genes: TCFL2, PPAR gama 2, and KCNJ11. Contractor musthave access to a CLIA-certified, high-complexity clinical laboratory. Location of vendor must be geographically close with recent experience with human subject research at the Durham VAMC while demonstrating experience in conducting clinical genomics research studies. This proposed procurement is for supplies or services for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement no later than Noon, 8/23/08, local time. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
