- This announcement is posted as a Sources Sought ONLY, for a future solicitation that will be posted on the Federal Business Opportunities website (www.fedbizopps.gov). This RFI is being issued to determine whether or not there are qualified Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business’ that will be able to meet the requirements for various types of ammunition. The solicitation will be to provide the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) with various types of ammunition. The Contractor shall provide large quantities of various ammunition to approximately 114 BOP locations throughout the contiguous United States, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico, on an as needed basis. The various ammunition consist of: 9MM Lugar 124 Grain Jacketed Ball Round (1,000,000 each); 12 Gauge #4 Buckshot 27 Pellets (160,000 each); 12 Gauge #7 ½ shot (160,000 each); 12 Gauge Rifled Slug 1 oz. (80,000 each); Cartridge.308 168 Grain Boat Tail (80,000 each); 9MM Lugar 115 Grain Jacketed Hollow Point Round (1,000,000 each); 223 Cal. 55 Grain Full Metal Jacket (1,500,000 each); 9MM Lugar 124 Grain Jacketed Hollow Point Round (1,000,000 each). All ammunition must be new initial load. NO RELOADED ammunition will be accepted, inclusive of factory or otherwise. This will be a single or multiple award, indefinite delivery, requirements type contract with firm fixed unit prices, for a one year base period plus four one year option periods. The anticipated period of performance is August 1, 2008 through July 31, 2013, if all option years are exercised. If you have an interest in the upcoming solicitation, please provide the written response to the questions below and provide your response to Linda Townsel, Contract Specialist, via email at ltownsel@bop.gov. You are advised that providing responses to the questions will not automatically include you in the acquisition process for this solicitation. REQUEST FOR INFORMATION 1. What experience do you have in manufacturing small arms ammunition? 2. Have you provided the U.S. Government with ammunition of the types listed above or any type in the past? If so, what types of ammunition? 3. Where will the ammunition be manufactured? 4. Would your company have the capacity and capability to supply the requirements for this contract? 5. Could any or all of the required ammunition be supplied by your firm, either as a prime or as a subcontractor? 6. How much work could be done with existing employees (i.e., How much subcontracting would be required?) 7. What is the size of your company? 8. Do you have any comments or would like to add?
