Description
THE U.S. ARMY TACOM LIFE CYCLE MANAGEMENT COMMAND (TACOM-LCMC) INTENDS TO SOLICIT AND AWARD A LONG TERM CONTRACT FOR A LINE OF COMMUNICATION BRIDGE SYSTEM (LOCB). THE LOCB SYSTEM WILL HAVE THE CAPABILITY OF SPANNING WET AND DRY GAPS OF AT LEAST 50 METERS WITH A MILITARY LOAD CLASS (MLC) 85 TRACK/100 WHEELED (NORMAL) AND 100 TRACK/120 WHEELED (CAUTION). THE GOVERNMENT WOULD LIKE TO INCREASE THIS CAPABILITY TO 100 TRACK/120 WHEELED (NORMAL). THE BRIDGE MUST POSSESS THE CAPABILITY TO BE CONSTRUCTED INTO A MULTI-SPAN BRIDGE OF AT LEAST 300 METERS IN LENGTH. THE BRIDGE MUST HAVE A CONTINUOUS USABLE ROADWAY WIDTH OF 4.2 METERS WITH THE GOVERNMENT DESIRING A 4.5 METER WIDTH. THE LOCB MUST BE CAPABLE OF HANDLING THE MAXIMUM MILITARY TRACKED AND WHEELED LOADS ALONG WITH CIVILIAN TRAFFIC FOR A MINIMUM OF FIVE YEARS. THE BRIDGE MUST HAVE AN EASILY INTERPRETED METHOD TO DETERMINE THE REMAINING SERVICE LIFE OF THE COMPONENTS. THE BRIDGE MUST BE OF MODULAR DESIGN AND BE CAPABL! E OF BEING CONTAINERIZED FOR CIVIL AND MILITARY TRANSPORT. ALL SYSTEM COMPONENTS FOR ONE LOCB SYSTEM LOADED IN SHIPPING CONTAINERS MUST FIT ON C-5 AIRCRAFT. THE PROGRAM WILL REQUIRE TESTING TO VALIDATE THE ABOVE REQUIREMENTS. THE CURRENT ARMY PROJECTIONS INCLUDE THE PURCHASE OF AN ESTIMATED EIGHTY (80) BRIDGE SETS CAPABLE OF SPANNING A 50 METER DRY GAP AND FIVE (5) 280 METER FLOAT BRIDGE SETS WITH ALL ASSOCIATED PONTOONS, ANCHORAGE SYSTEMS, RAMPS, PIERS, LAUNCH/ERECTION SETS, TOOLS, SERVICES AND SUPPORT OVER MULTIPLE YEARS.
