Description
NAICS Code: 334516 The US EPA, OAR, ORIA intends to award a sole-source order using FAR 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures to Canberra Industries, Inc. the current manufacturer. This request is to purchase Canberra alpha detectors and spectrometers. Canberra instruments can only bereliably installed to existing RI&E equipment, maintained & repaired by the original manufacturer. It is to be noted that RI&E already have a service contract with Canberra which holds a proprietary license on its equipment. Since alpha spectroscopy detectors & spectrometers are such delicate instruments and each has its own original manufacturer specifications and tolerances, and they will be connected to and controlled by RI&E existing Canberra manufactured equipment/software, the requested Canberra equipment are the only equipment that may be connected to and controlled by RI&E existing Canberra manufactured equipment/software. NO SOLICITATION IS AVAILABLE. Notwithstanding, any firm who believes it is capable of meeting EPA's requirement as stated herein may submit a response, which if received within 15 calendar days of the date of this announcement will be considered. Responses to this posting must be in writing. A determination not to compete the proposed Purchase Order based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. All questions should be directed to Rasheda Sherron via email at sherron.rasheda@epa.gov. The Office of Radiation and Indoor Air, Radiation and Indoor Environments National Laboratory (ORIA/R&IE) is continuing its effort to provide defensible radiological analytical values to the Public and other Governmental Agencies. R&IE supports Superfund projects in cleanup, removal, remediation, and radiological emergencies for EPA Regions, and provides the Department of Energy (DOE) with analytical results from environmental sampling at nuclear testing era sites. In providing this support we have to maintain our analytical instrumentation hardware to peak performance and maintain original manufacturer specification.
