Description
THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ONLY. Director, Intelligence and Information Warfare Directorate (I2WD) is seeking sources and information for engineering, materials purchase, and field support for the upgrade and enhancement of LCMR-class systems to support base protection operations to be completed no later than March 2009. The LCMR is a lightweight, man-portable weapon location sensor operating at L-Band frequencies that can provide continuous 360-degree location and tracking of mortar, artillery and rockets. The LSTAR is a variant of the LCMR which was designed to detect and track Unmanned Air Vehicles. The proposed effort will network LCMR-class systems for an enhanced capability for personnel survivability and security at Forward Operating Bases and other designated areas of operation. To further enhance base protection, upgrades of both the LCMR and LSTAR radar will be required in order meet relevant customer requirements for improved performance of both radars. This will include, but not be limited to: -Enhanced detection and tracking of mortar, artillery and rockets -Greater precision of Point-of-Launch and Point-of-Impact -Improved Sense-and-Warn Capability -Improved Sense-and-Avoid Capability -Extended Range to detect and track Unmanned Air Vehicles -Integration of internal navigation systems. Responders are requested to provide: 1. Description of experience in operation, repairs (hardware, software, firmware) of LCMR-class radars. 2. Plan to network, upgrade and enhance LCMR-class radars. 3. Cost/schedule requirements. No foreign nationals (NOFORN) need apply. Written inputs are requested by COB 12 June 2008 to Intelligence and Information Warfare Directorate, Radar Systems Branch, Bldg 600, Ft. Monmouth, NJ, 07703. Responses may also be submitted electronically to Point of Contacts listed below. Responses will be limited to no more than 5 pages in length. This is not a request for proposal. This synopsis is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will the Government pay for any information solicited. Technical questions and responses should be addressed to Lauren Porr, (lauren.porr@us.army.mil).
