- Description
- The contractor shall furnish the necessary personnel, material, equipment and services (except as otherwise specified), to perform the statement of work, Department of State SAQMM-A-08-R0140 identified herein. The U.S. Department of State shall provide the facility, where work is to be performed, and a forklift to facilitate packing. The Contractor shall ensure that: Packaging is to be made of water resistant fiberboard materials or well seasoned timber. Timber must be kiln dried (KD) or heat treated (HT) to a standard of 56 degrees C. (133 degrees F) for 30 minutes. Wood should be marked with an approved pest-free certification stamp. The stamp would contain the following information: a. Trademark, identification symbol or logo. b. Mill Identification (Manufacture's name, brand or assigned mill) c. Heat treated (KD/HT) mark d. Country code. e. International symbol for compliant non-manufactured word packaging. Wood should be free from defects that would materially lessen the strength. Sections of the packages are to be closely fitted. Ends of wooden boxes shall be of one piece or equivalent to one piece, or cleaned/battened. Equipment and merchandise within the package must be secure (i-e., bolting to the bottom, bracing, etc.) with the necessary padding depending on the nature of the item placed in a box. Box is to be cross-banded, burlaped and marked as instructed by the requesting office. Packing for surface and air freight shipments will be a variety of items, e.g. electronic equipment such as computers and test equipment and similar delicate items. Upon request, the Contractor will pack shipment with foam to prevent equipment damage and movement. Foam must be to rated 1.5 to 2 in density and should be three or more inches in thickness. Packing should conform to Mil-Mil-2073-1C. Fiberboard and wooden boxes used in performing services under this contract shall be constructed in accordance with federal specification PPP-B-601 and PPP-B-591, respectively. The box to be furnished shall be ' Style A" overseas type as shown therein utilizing plywood of a minimum thickness of 3/8 of an inch or two-wall fiberboard material. All equipment shall be wrapped, cushioned and protected in accordance with the preservation requirements of military specification Mil-2073-1C. All cartons, boxes, wrapping and cushioning materials used by the contractor in the performance of services under this contract shall be new, clean, dry and free from substance injurious to the article to be packed.
