- Salient Characteristics for Power Management Software Power Management Functions Workstation Power Management Tool will be required to influence the power behaviors of the existing Macintosh and Windows Workstations. The Power Management Tool will have the capability of monitoring, managing, and controlling Macintosh and Windows Workstation power settings. To include: Should have a power up on LAN capability some characteristics are: Ability to schedule wake from standby without WOL capable/enabled hardware Supports WOL across subnets without risk of broadcast storms Fault tolerant, zero management WOL proxy election IP subnet discovery to support WOL on networks with Network Address Translation Setup of turn off or restart computers through the network console/ the capability of saving and closing of applications without loss of data before any shutdowns (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, WordPad, and Notebook)/ to aggregate power usage summaries and retrieval of the information for reporting purposes (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly)/ view and control of power-saving settings hibernation, stand-by settings, hard-drive and monitor shutdown settings/ View the reports through a Web Based Reporting/ Control all standard Windows and Macintosh Power Management settings Sophisticated power profiles that support different Power Management settings depending on time of day and day of week/ Implement new power profiles without re-imaging, ghosting, or script development/ Power profiles and scheduling of power states managed via Power Management groups/ Instant, network-wide power access to execute power state changes on demand/ Allows user to temporarily override power settings, resetting them the next day/ Application protection without scripting Reporting Energy use forecasting Energy and Cost analysis reporting Peak demand consumption estimate Reports based on actual user activity Energy usage data reported with hourly or daily granularity Third party validated M&V Other Provides asset information on each client Works with all environments, tools, and systems (e.g., SMS, AD, ZENWorks) Supports all current Macintosh and Windows OS versions Core Service Workstations 2700 EA Power Management for Desktops 2700 EA
