- Description
- The Department of Homeland Security, Customs & Border Protection, Air & Marine, in conjunction with the Coast Guard, is hosting a Maritime Predator B Unmanned Aircraft Systems Summit open to industry in Miami, FL, on 7-8 July 2008. The purpose of the Summit is to provide a forum for industry, Customs & Border Protection, and Coast Guard officials to exchange information on systems and requirements for Predator B aircraft to secure our nation’s maritime borders, with a focus on sensors, communications, and imagery exploitation tools. Differing UAV platforms (unmanned aircraft/airships) are not a discussion topic for this Summit. The Summit will be held in the Conrad Miami, 1395 Brickell Ave Miami, FL. Vendors whose technology is proven, tested and successfully deployed will receive first consideration for the limited time slots available. Selected participants will be allocated 20-minute slots to meet with DHS officials. Industry participation in the Summit is strictly voluntary, and any associated travel or per diem-related expenses will not be reimbursed by the Government. Participation in this Summit does not imply any intention by the Government, nor commit it, to enter into any contractual arrangement with the participant’s company. Interested parties must respond by email to uassummitregistration@cbp.dhs.gov no later than 16 June 2008 and selected parties will be notified of their time slot by 23 Jun 2008. Presentations will be selected on the basis of 1) relevance to general CBP requirements, 2) technical maturity, and 3) vendor history. Relevant requirements include: a) airborne sensors for detecting, classifying, and/or identifying maritime vessels in multiple environments, b) communication systems for relaying high bandwidth (video, radar) or low bandwidth (voice) between an unmanned aircraft and the ground, and c) exploitation software tools for archiving, retrieving, or analyzing imagery (video, radar) data. All end-products must fit within the internal payload constraints (size, weight, power) of a General Atomics Predator B unmanned aircraft system. Technical maturity is defined as end-items being at Technical Readiness Level 7 (have been tested in an operationally relevant environment) or higher. Vendor history will consider the performance record of the company in delivering products to the government as well as assessing the capability of the company to produce its advertised product in a timely manner and provide follow-on support. This informal capability response shall be in the form of a 2 page document in Arial 12 font in Microsoft Word as an attachment to the email mentioned above. The email itself may serve as no more than a one page introduction or cover sheet. Questions and answers raised during this summit will be publicly posted for all interested vendors to receive. To receive future information regarding this requirement, be sure to register as an interested vendor on FedBizOpps.
