Description

Coeur d Alene River Ranger District, Kootenai County, Idaho. Placer Stewardship project, authorized by Section 323 of Public Law 108-7, the Consolidated Appropriations Resolution, 2003, on an area including approximately 9960 acres in the Placer Creek drainage, South Fork of the Coeur d'Alene River Basin. Restoration objectives include (a) Hazardous Fuels Reduction; (b) Fuels reduction across the drainage to reduce the potential for high severity and intensity wildfire in the municipal watershed; (c) Utilize Timber; (d) Improve forest components. To accomplish these objectives, the contract includes: timber removal, road work, fuels reduction, snag and down wood management, piling of fuels, and site preparation. Timber removal is specified on approximately 389 acres including an estimated volume of 9887 CCF. The contract term will be 4 years from date of award. Start date of fall 2008 or spring 2009. A Pre-solicitation meeting and site visit is scheduled for Tuesday, July 1, 2008. Meet at Silver Valley Ranger Station, 173 Commerce Drive, Smelterville, Idaho at 8:00 am for meeting and discussion of solicitation followed by trip to field site if there is interest.
