Description

The U.S. Department of State, Office of Acquisition Management intends to issue a Sole Source Award to GKN Aerospace Transparency Systems for the acquisition of replacement ballistic glass for six (6) types of the Departments armored vehicles. The Bureau of Diplomatic Security is responsible for ensuring that the armored glass installed in the vehicles meets the Department's specifications, the armored glass purchased by this contract will allow routine repair of the vehicles ballistic glass windows. GKN Aerospace Transparency Systems is the only vendor utilized by the armorer of the vehicles for these windows. Each ballistic glass vendor must be qualified to produce glass for the specific design type. Only GKN Aerospace has been identified to be qualified to produce glass for these armored vehicle design types. The statutory authority permitting other than full and open competition is 41 USC 253 c(1). The regulatory authority is FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or service will satisfy the agency's requirements. This is for informational purposes only.
