NOAA, National Marine Fisheries Service, NWFSC Mukilteo Field Station located at Mukilteo, WA. is a government agency charged with the mission of stewardship for living marine resources. Background & Objective The NWFSC provides scientific and technical support to NMFS for the management, conservation, and wise use of the Northwest region's marine and anadromous resources. The NWFSC Mukilteo Field Station uses a seawater supply system that is adapted to the location. The water allows scientists to raise fish and marine species, conduct exposure studies, investigate genetic adaptability to environmental change, and study aquaculture methods. The seawater is discharged from this facility into Possession Sound. As stewards of the environment, we intend to meet and exceed all applicable discharge requirements. Water System Information  The Mukilteo Field Station operates a seawater delivery system capable of 300 to 500 gallons per minute of seawater. Seawater is sand filtered, then pumped into a large holding tank to create water pressure at numerous research tanks.  The seawater system currently consists of up to 6 small (7 sq. ft. ea) sand filters that are backwashed manually one time per day or as necessary to maintain required seawater flow rates. Backwash effluent generates about 3000 gallons of seawater and concentrated effluent. Services Requirements: Project includes, but not limited to, the following.  Supply a fully automatic filter system for the seawater supply of the research facility i. Supply three sand filters with at least 16 sq. ft surface area each. ii. Supply a five valve manifold with support kit for each sand filter using 4 inch diameter butterfly valves and 115/120 volt actuators. iii. Supply a fully automated controller with the option of timed or pressure differential initiation of backwash cycle. 5.0 Optional Requirements: Supply (two) plastic housing, 7.5 hp pumps capable of 300 gpm at 65 ft TDH and able of prime to 12 feet. Motors will be ODP or TEFC type, 220/440 volt, 3-phase. Interested parties must respond to this announcement within fifteen (15) calendar days of its publication. All responses must be in writing and may be faxed to 206-526-6025 or email (melvin.n.fondue@noaa.gov).
