- It is the intent of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Office of Minority Health and Health Disparities Internship Program to procure the services of three (3) interns from American University in support of the Washington Internships for Native Students (WINS). The WINS program is designed to provide knowledge, skills and practical work experience to intern participants. Interns will work at the National Library of Medicine (NLM) in the following offices: Office of Administration (OA), Office of Communications and Public Liaison (OCPL) and Library Operations (LO). Scope of Work The contractor will perform the following tasks: •Assist the OA and LO Administrative Office Management team and Director OCPL in implementing Common Business Practices (CBP) reference guides; •Assist in the planning of a wide range of program management, administrative development initiatives. Participation involves attendance during weekly meetings; •In collaboration with central exhibit members, track central exhibit costs associated with Office of the Director (OD), Office of Education Outreach Liaison (EOL) and LO; •Assist administrative management with tracking budget expenditures for specific programmatic initiatives such as the Adopt-A-School program and the like; •Assist administrative management team with resolving unpaid invoices for respective programs; •May engage input on Native American Exhibit planned for 2011; •Attend monthly highly visible trans-NIH meetings and take minutes during these sessions; •These interns will be responsible to perform other duties as assigned to help meet the pressing needs of the office on a day-to-day basis. Sole Source Justification The WINS program is facilitated by the American University (AU) and as such AU is the only organization that can provide WIN interns.
