- This is a solicitation notice for a proposed construction contract for the "B81 Radiology Services Backfill" at the American Lake Division of the VA Puget Sound Health Care System. The VA is seeking a contractor to provide all labor, materials, tools, equipment, and supervision for the proposed contract. The purpose of the proposed work will consolidate the medical center's radiological services (approximately 8,000 square feet) on the second floor of Building 81.Work will involve the slab to slab demolition of existing second floor room configurations and the construction of new dedicated radiological work space. The contractor will be responsible for moving the medical center's existing CT scanner from the B 81 first floor to the new location on the second floor. The first floor emergency room (approximately 800 square feet) will be remodeled. Work will include, but is not limited to, the following: demolition, structural improvements, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire sprinkler, telecommunication systems and all interior finishes. There will be a pre-bid site inspection July 1, 2008 at 10 AM in Building 6 Room 226, 9600 Veterans Drive, Puget Sound Health Care System, American Lake Division, Tacoma, WA. The construction cost range is $2 million to $5 million. Contract completion time will be 365 calendar days from the date of the Notice to Proceed. The VA anticipates awarding a firm, fixed price contract. This will not be a small business set aside solicitation. This procurement will be a sealed bid competition with a 100% set aside for Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses. The NAICS classification is 236220. The small business size standard is $31.5 million average annual receipts for 3 preceding fiscal years. Construction document bid packages will be available o/a June 16, 2008. As authorized by FAR 5.102(a)(7), solicitation dissemination is limited to electronic medium, and VA will provide no hard copies. The solicitation, consisting of various bid documents, specifications, forms, and drawings will be available for download at no charge at the VA Business Opportunities System website, Bidders are advised that they are responsible for obtaining all bid documents and any amendments, and should re-visit the VA website periodically to look for any updates.
