Description
NASA/LaRC has a requirement for FORTY (40) HIGH POWER QUANTEL LASER DIODE ARRAYS.THIS IS REQUIREMENT IS FOR THE QUANTEL BRAND NAME ONLY. NO OTHER PRODUCTS WILL BECONSIDERED. BRAND NAME JUSTIFICATION: The laser diode arrays must generate high optical power ofhundreds of watts over a very specific wavelength in order to be efficiently absorbed bythe solid state 2-micron lasing materials. The laser diode arrays being procured underthe resulting order will be identical in performance and physical specifications to theones previously acquired. Some of the arrays will replace the current arrays in abreadboard laser systems built under Laser Risk Reduction Program and the remainingarrays will be used to build additional laser systems for delivery to the Wind and CO2Instrument Incubator Programs. Procuring laser diode arrays from a different manufacturerwill seriously jeopardize the work for construction and delivery of the three 2-micronlaser systems. The specifications are linked above or may be accessed athttp://prod.nais.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eps/bizops.cgi?gr=C&pin=. ]This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared inaccordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additionalinformation included in this notice.
