- DESCRIPTION: The Department of Defense is requesting information and seeking sources for a Joint Contaminated Surface Detector (JCSD) to enter a System Development and Demonstration phase with potential for production options. The JCSD will detect and identify ground deposition of liquid and solid chemical warfare agents, non-traditional agents, and toxic industrial chemicals while on the move. The JCSD will be integrated into Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical (NBC) Reconnaissance Platforms, specifically the Stryker NBC Reconnaissance Vehicle and the Joint NBC Reconnaissance System Light Armored Vehicle. DESIRED SPECIFICATIONS: Include, but are not restricted/limited to: Total Volume: 7.5 ft3 (.2 m3); Weight: 132 lbs (60 kg); Power: Peak: 1000 Watts, Nominal: 600 Watts; Input Voltage: 24-31VDC; Detection and ID Time: 3 s; Platform Speed: Primary Road: 60 mph (96 kph), Secondary Road: 40 mph (64 kph), Cross-Country: 15 mph (24 kph); Temperature Range: Operating: -50oF to 125oF (-46oC to 52oC), Storage: -60oF to 125oF (-51oC to 52oC); Humidity (operating): 5-95% Relative Humidity; Shock and Vibration: MIL-STD-810F; Electromagnetic Interface: MIL-STD 461; Data Storage and Maintenance: 72 hours of continuous data in memory. Interested firms should submit literature/brochures, in English, not exceeding 30 pages describing their technical capabilities, systems and software engineering plans, and logistical expertise. Please mark all proprietary information. Interested parties shall include company name, complete address, size of business (large/small) and a technical point of contact with phone number and email address. Upon review of the capability statements, the Government may request a meeting with the interested companies. This is a Sources Sought notice and is for planning purposes only. This is not a solicitation and does not obligate the government to issue a solicitation. All interested parties shall submit the requested information no later than 8 July 2008.
