Description
The Department of Commerce/National Institute of Standards and Technology intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Newport Corporation, 1791 Deere Avenue, Irvine, CA 926064814 for an Optical Table. The Performance Requirements for the Optical Table Workstation include the following: 1.Consists of an Optical Breadboard on a Platform. 2.The Optical Breadboard should be 36 inches wide, 60 inches long, and 4 inches thick, and should be designed in a way that provide vibration damping and resists deflection. 3.The entire top the Optical Breadboard should consist of a 3/16 inch thick ferromagnetic steel surface having a grid of ¼-20 tapped mounting holes on 1 inch spacing with a 0.5 inch hole-less border. The bottom of the mounting holes must be permanently and individually sealed. 4.The Optical Table Workstation should not include vibration isolators, support rings or rails, base clamps, equipment shelves, computer accessories, sliding shelves, cable managers, or any other accessories not explicitly stated here. 5.The Platform should support the Optical Breadboard and up to 1300 lbs of user-provided equipment on top of the Optical Breadboard. 6.The Platform should be 36 inches wide, 60 inches long, and between 25 and 30 inches tall. 7.The Platform should contain a 19 inch wide electronic instrument rack. 8.The Platform should include a set of 4 castors, one for each leg, that can be deployed to enable the Optical Table to be moved, then retracted to enable the Optical Table to be stationary. A firm-fixed-price purchase order will be issued on or about June 20, 2008. The Government intends to solicit only this one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)because the Government has not identified any other sources that can meet the requirements specified above. Interested concerns may identify their capabilities by submitting a capability statement that demonstrates in written narrative format their ability to meet the requirement and objectives as described in this synopsis. Capability statements may be e-mailed to Barbara.Suhrie@nist.gov. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. This notice is not a request for quotation. A determination by the Government whether to compete this proposed requirement is solely within the discretion of the Government.
