The US Army Joint Munitions & Lethality Life Cycle Management Command (JM&L LCMC), Picatinny Arsenal, NJ, on behalf of the Research Development and Engineering Command Armament Research Development and Engineering Center (RDECOM-ARDEC), intends to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the support of mechanisms, assemblies, specialized systems, and structures. This requirement will be 100% set-aside to small businesses located within a 30-mile radius of Picatinny Arsenal, NJ. Any resultant contract will be a 5-year Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) contract. Items to be produced will be specialty in nature (e.g., exotic fin mechanisms, control/guidance steering mechanisms designs) in support of various munition/munition systems research and development programs managed by the RDECOM-ARDEC. Other items to be produced may involve the use of smart materials (SMAs) or other exotic materials. This effort will involve all calibers of munitions/munition systems/munition delivery systems. It will also include the assembly of components into a specified assembly of a Government-furnished design. The US Army RDECOM-ARDEC will purchase various components and fielded items for the US Army Soldiers battlefield/training use. Also under this proposed contract, specialized prototype systems/mechanisms/assemblies/structures will be manufactured for test and evaluation purposes. This notice does not constitute a request for competitive proposals at this time. The RFP is anticipated to be issued on or about 24 June 2008.
