Description
NOTICE OF INTENT TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, ALOSH, Morgantown, WV, intends to issue a purchase order on a sole source basis to Quantachrome Corporation, 1900 Corporate Drive, Boynton Beach, FL 33426-6650. The purpose of this contract is to purchase a Quadrasorb SI Kryton - Bench Top Surface Area and Pore Size/Volume Anayzer offered by Quantachrome and it is the only brand and model of instrument compatible with the existing instrumentation in the laboratory and the instrument has the required sensitivity and accuracy. The quantasorb uses a software acquisition program that is compatible with the existing Quantachrome software on the nitrogen absorption system. The NIOSH laboratory has invested several thousand of dollars from several research projects to purchase nearly 100 sample cells, filler rods, and other supplies that are inter-changeable between the existing nitrogen system and the quantasorb SI krypton system. By owning two compatible systems, we will eliminate redundancy in supply purhcases, reduce laboratory storage space requirements, and eliminate potential for diminished data quality by errant use of similar looking but incompatible sample supplies between instruments. Responsible sources that believe they possess the expertise and capabilities identified above are encouraged to submit to the Contracting Officer within 15 days from the posting date of this notice their capabilities statement and supporting information in the format they choose, not to exceed 10 pages. Please forward capabilities and supporting information to: Kimberly Groves, Reference: 000HCCHC-2008-56928, DHHS/PHS/CDC/NIOSH, 1095 Willowdale Road, Morgantown, WV 26505, or E-mail kpg0@cdc.gov or fax to 304-285-6083. The government will review any/all capabilities statements and and pricing information submitted and determine if other qualified sources do exist that could provide this requirement. Information received in response to this notice will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. All vendors must be registered in the Central Contractor Registry (CCR) prior to award of a federal contract. Vendors may register at www.ccr.gov. If no affirmative responses are received within 15 days, in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), negotiations will be conducted with Quantachrome Instruments as the only source and a purchase order will be issued without any additional notices being posted. Original Point of Contact: Kimberly Groves, Purchasing Agent, Phone 304-285-5885, Fax 304-285-6083, Email kpg0@cdc.gov.
